President's Message

Welcome to your ACSA Region VI web site.  I hope you will take the time to peruse these pages and find out more about Region VI, its members and all it has to offer you as a professional.

If you don’t find something you feel should be included please let us know.  If you have ideas that will make our web site more user-friendly, or more valuable to you and others, please let us know.  This is your professional organization, your web site, your information.  To give us feedback, simply click on the “contact us” link at the bottom of the page.

As you all know the 2008 – 2009 school year is shaping up to be the most challenging year in recent memory.  Huge deficits, a changing political landscape, a struggling economy all will impact our programs, our students, their families and our communities.  But even as we face these challenges, as daunting as they may be, I am certain of one thing, we will prevail.  We will all rise to the occasion and once again we will overcome adversity.  That is what we do.  That is who we are, educational leaders who pride ourselves in our work, our commitment to our communities, and our commitment to our profession.

But this “do more with less” culture we find ourselves in carries with it the danger of never reaching the level of funding our students deserve.  That is why we must continue to press our representatives in Sacramento to adequately fund California’s future, our students.  If we can provide a quality education for our students while ranking among the lowest states in revenue per student, dare to imagine what we could achieve if we were in the top of that ranking.

I urge you to be a voice for our students, get active with ACSA and join the driving force behind quality public education.  Remember, ACSA believes in leadership, we believe a quality education builds a strong democracy, and we are committed to supporting educational leaders and serving our students.
