President's Message

Fall 2009

Welcome to the ACSA Region 6 website.  It is our hope to provide you with updated information about our region’s services and support to you as school leaders.  We are open to suggestions for better serving our members.  Please contact us with your ideas.  ACSA is your professional organization.  This is your website.

While we all thought the last school year was going to the most challenging one in recent memory, it’s hard to believe that 2009-2010 could be even more difficult.  All districts in California are facing unprecedented fiscal challenges while the urgency for increasing student achievement and closing the achievement gap continues to drive our daily work.

The mission of ACSA is to support California’s educational leaders to ensure that all students acquire the knowledge and skills needed to excel.  I am especially proud of ACSA’s advocacy work to champion public education for all children in California.  As we continue to face tough times in our state, we are called upon more than ever to press our representatives in Sacramento to adequately fund California’s future, our students.

In Region 6, we will continue to focus on the following goals:

• Providing regular communication with members
• Increasing diversity of school leaders in our region and state
• Addressing professional development needs of our members
• Celebrating the achievement of our members
• Expanding our membership base
• Advocating and championing public education

I urge you to be active in ACSA as membership in ACSA reflects a commitment to our professional organization and the work it does. We must be a voice for our students and for quality public education.  I am very proud of our profession and am honored to serve as your region president for 2009-2010.   I wish you the best for the new school year.  Leadership Matters in ACSA!
